Unfiltered Memorial Service of Late Muhammad Ali
Thousands gather to pay their final respects to the civil rights hero and boxing icon.
The interfaith memorial service for legend Muhammad Ali was lead by Imam Zaid Shakir, followed by recitation of the Quran and translation by a second generation Syrian immigrant.
Former President Bill Clinton, Reverend Billy Crystal and Bryant Gumbel spoke at the memorial service, along with Lonnie Ali, the boxer’s fourth wife, gave a moving tribute on Friday saying that her husband “did not fear death.”
“His timing is once again poignant. His passing and its meaning for our time should not be overlooked as we face uncertainty in a world and divisions at home as to who we are as people. Muhammad’s life should provide guidance,” she told thousands of mourners.
The ceremony was also attended by football player David Beckham, singer-songwriter Yusuf Islam and actor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
